This “sprint” is a hands-on hackathon where participants learn to contribute to scikit-learn, a widely-used Python open source, machine learning library.
Data Umbrella was awarded a first grant ($10,000) to hosted a Latin America scikit-learn sprint in June 2021, where a total of 40 contributors attended from across 9 different countries in Latin America. Read the event report from the first grant here.
A second grant ($5,000) was awarded in 2022 to encourage returning contributors from Africa and the Middle East to scikit-learn to foster long-term sustainability.
