At Code for Science & Society (CS&S), we envision a future where open research, data, and technology effectively work towards equitable distribution of resources, knowledge, and power. To build this future, there is an urgent need for deeper investment in effective community-centered programs. New, equitable models for research, governance, and community engagement are being developed across our fiscally sponsored projects and core programs.
2022 was marked by several important milestones for CS&S. In September we celebrated 6 years since our initial incorporation, pushing us squarely out of the startup years. I’ve been with the organization since 2017, and seen the organization through cycles of exploration, development, and reflection in our programmatic development. In 2022, we hit our stride. Across our robust Fiscal Sponsorship Program, community-governed Event Fund, and capacity-building Digital Infrastructure Incubator, we saw the impact of our work over the last few years reflected back through data and stories.
